API Toolbench is a WordPress plugin. It runs inside your own WordPress admin and talks directly to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard API using your API key. Your key and your clients' network data stay on your site.

What you need

  • A WordPress site you control. Any host that runs current WordPress works. We recommend a private or staging site rather than your public marketing website, because this is where your team will manage client networks.
  • PHP 7.4 or newer. Every mainstream host meets this. You can check under Tools → Site Health → Info → Server.
  • A Meraki dashboard admin account with access to the organizations you want to manage, and the Dashboard API enabled for those organizations. Connect your Meraki account walks through this.
  • A WordPress administrator to install the plugin. Day-to-day use also needs an administrator account for now.

Install the plugin

  1. Download the plugin zip from your account email or the download page.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the zip file and click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. A new Meraki menu appears in the left sidebar with four pages: Devices, Bulk Changes, Reports and Settings.

Updating

When a new version is available, WordPress shows it on Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins page, the same as any other plugin. Your settings, history and reports are kept when you update.

If you install an update by uploading a zip instead, WordPress will say the plugin already exists. Choose Replace current with uploaded. Nothing is lost.

Next step

Connect your Meraki account, or try everything first with demo mode.
